SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Brittany Murphy, account manager at Pinckney Hugo Group, was honored at BizEventz’ 2020 Nonprofit Awards Celebration on Wednesday, Aug. 12, as a recipient of the “Rising Star” award. Murphy was one of two winners in the “Rising Star” category, which celebrates the talents of young leaders who demonstrate efforts in community involvement, leadership and fundraising for a nonprofit.
Now in its 12th year, the Nonprofit Awards highlights the achievements of organizations, professionals, board members and volunteers that help make the Central New York community stronger. Honorees are chosen by a panel of independent judges for outstanding individual and organizational efforts to support local nonprofits.
Murphy was recognized for her support of The Salvation Army and involvement in The Salvation Army Young Leaders Advisory Council, which she has been a member of for three years. In January 2020 she was appointed to the council’s executive committee and named nominations chair. In the leadership role, she is responsible for member recruitment and retention. The council consists of more than 40 young professionals and seeks to recruit the next generation of leaders that will have a positive impact in Syracuse. Members help raise awareness locally for The Salvation Army and its services that impact over 38,000 Onondaga County residents in need each year.
As an account manager, Murphy is responsible for interacting with agency clients, helping them plan and execute marketing strategies and tactics. Along with her professional responsibilities, she is co-chair of the agency’s Volunteer Committee and has organized and participated in a number of agency-wide volunteer initiatives. Murphy has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, with a concentration in public relations and advertising, from the State University of New York at Cortland.
